Bombay high court rejects the petition of Ranveer and Arjun

Bombay high court refused Arjun and Ranveer's petition

On Tuesday, Arjun Kapoor's and Ranveer Singh's interval alleviation was denied by the Bombay High Court on an FIR filed against Arjun and Ranveer in 2015. The FIR asserted that the AIB knockout demonstrates that they two did was `vulgar`, `obscene` and `pornographic` in nature.

Last month, the two actors had filed petitions after they received an order to appear before the judge from the Pune police over the matter. They urged the court by an interim relief to direct the Mumbai and Pune police to abstain themselves from taking any coercive action against them. The petition includes that the FIRs filed were wrongful, mischievous and with an ulterior motive. The event was not meant to hurt the sentiments of anybody.

The actor's lawyer, Ashwin Thool was then directed by a division bench of justices R M Savant and Sarang Kotwal to first serve a copy of their plea to Santosh Daundkar, a complainant in the case after which they will hear the case.

They kept the matter for the further hearing which is scheduled on April 3.

The AIB knockout show case

The case is related to the AIB knockout show back in 2014, in which both the actors along with other celebrities including Karan Johar, Deepika Padukone and members of AIB team were part of. On 20 January 2015, the video of the show was uploaded to YouTube which went viral. Within a couple of days,  Santosh Daundkar filed a complaint in Goregaon court alleging that the show was `vulgar`, `obscene` and `pornographic`. The court ordered to register an FIR. After another FIR was also registered in Bund Garden Police station which is in Pune.

In 2015, AIB’s Tanmay Bhat, Gursimran Khamba, Ashish Shakya and Rohan Joshi along with superstar Deepika Padukone and director and producer Karan Johar had requested the Bombay High Court for the FIR to be quashed. The court also ordered the police not to take any strict action against the actors. However, it is now that the actors have been called by the Pune police.
